Born in Peng-hu, Taiwan in 1993, Zhao, Pei-jun graduated from the Department of Visual Arts of the National Chiayi University.
"Everyone has a promised land of their own where doesn’t belong to any place. Everyone is a free fish." Zhao grew up in the fishing village of Penghu, and she loved nature since she was a child. She liked to watch the fish swim in the water as well as the waves of the sea water up and down. The rendering and lightness of ink and wash, like the sea of childhood memories, can touch the emotions of life and realize the original yearning and imagination of the heart.
"Water is the most abundant component in the human body, and the fish must rely on water to live. I think the fish is very similar to people." Looking back at her own growing environment and life experience, Zhao settles the contradictions, complexities and her emotions and condense them into a surreal space. Through the free of the fish, the smooth and curved silk lines, the fullness of the fruits, she paints the stable place of the soul, to express the mutual relationship between human beings and nature. When all things are in harmony, life will be free and fulfilled.
