Born in Changhua, Taiwan in 1988, Ye, Yi-zhen graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of National Taichung University of Education, with a master degree.
An observation on flowers is also a look at one’s own heart. YE observes the small universe of flowers and realizes the value of life of all things, and then seeks the tranquil and peace of her own soul. From the small flowers to the mountain range, YE’s perspective from a single side gradually expands to the whole environment. The transfer symbolizes the realiztion and changes of the inner heart, the exchange of the whispers between the human and the object. The natural scenery to the painter is like the Swiss philosopher Henri Frederic Amiel put it, "A natural landscape is a state of mind."
The flower is not only a memory of her growth, but also a medium for her to express the emotions. The water in the painting symbolizes the amniotic fluid in the mother's pregnancy, the flowers in the glass bottle, growing in a quiet and safe embrace. But with the challenges and changes of the environment, the individual arises various emotions and anxiety. The curls, lights and shadows, colors and the posture of the flowers are all true to life. YE records her intimate relationship with the environment through painting.
