Melaka-born Chinese, now residing in the capital of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur. Visual art has always been a passion of Hsiao Pei but that took a backseat during a 14-year break when she focused on getting a Master’s Degree in Chemistry, a regional role in the corporate world and three children.
Now she is taking a breather from all that. “Pause, PAINT, Reset.” Started again with just a pencil and paper in 2015, she is back now experimenting with more painting mediums including watercolor, acrylic and oil.
“Malaysia is a beautiful country with a lot of hidden gems not seen by non-locals. An example is our many fishing villages where locals work in the wee hours of the morning to bring back their catch. After sending their catch to the traders, they spend their afternoons mending the nets and picking the remaining catch stuck in the nets.”
It is a peaceful scene, as they relax and prepare for their next trip.
