Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1991, Zhang, He-chun graduated from the Department of Painting and Calligraphy Arts of National Taiwan University of the Arts with the master degree.
ZHANG liked to draw since he was a child and had the support from his parents. His painting subject often reflects the people who living in the bottom of society have the difficulties in the modern environment. He used the imagery "frontier zone" to explore the survival problem of the social edge, and the inner feelings and reflections caused by it. Through the linear segmentation and construction of ink brush, ZHANG put together the different time and space scenes on the same plane, presenting the interlace and infiltration of the reality and illusion to provide the viewers multiple reading possibilities. Countless myths and confusions seem to be hidden in this bustling city, and people living at the bottom look at all the sharp desires extending upwards, full of darkness and loneliness.
However, the afterglow shines the sky, it’s the most beautiful and poetic balance of day and night, something is about to pass and something is about to come.
