Born in Kaohsiung in 1985, Lin, Ying-Chun graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts with a Master of Fine Arts. In the university period, she majored in sculpture, and then she chose painting as her major when entering graduate school, taught by Chu Teh-I. In addition to painting, Lin currently also works in installations and performances.
The series of "The Images of Inner Still Life" was inspired from the worship activity. Through the worship offerings or ritual objects, the artist corresponds them to the inner thoughts and emotional sustenance. This transformation process is actually like the art creation. The real thing we see is no longer just a simple still life. Folk beliefs are usually rooted in traditional culture. And it is not just an abstract value, but an expressive symbol in a sense that presents on visible images. Through the arrangement of specific objects and non-figurative bright color blocks, Lin, Ying-Chun draws out the inner thoughts and the stable pursuit outside the flat space.
