Born in Kaohsiung in 1992, Tsai, Hsing-Ying graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts of National Taichung University of Education. In 2015, she was selected as the 14th Ink and Color Newcomer and the 4th Cross-Strait Art New World Forum. In the autumn of 2018, she held his first solo exhibition "Immersion - A Gaze of Tanbi". "Tanbi" seems to be a word that can be directly perceived from her paintings, a beautiful, romantic, feminine boy." I am uneasy about women being watched and peeping, trying to create a space that can be manipulated and controlled by myself. The beauty of men becomes the subject of being gaze. Through the soft tone of ink itself and the precise strokes of meticulous brushwork, I can project more Eastern fantasy and female desires."
The British writer John Berger mentioned in《The Way of Watching》, "We are never only looking at the things themselves; we are always watching the relationship between things and us." In terms of artistic expression, it has jumped away from the inertia of society to liberate the limits of the genders and express the desires freely. Through Tsai, Hsing-Ying's works, we seem to cross the engraved ideology and lead to a more equal and better social structure.
