Born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1992, Ding, You-wei graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts with a master's degree in crafts and design. Ding was interested in glass blowing inspired by teacher Shi Fuzhen when he’s in college. Even though few resources in studying glass technology and the difficult skills to learn, Ding was still deeply fascinated by this complicated and beautiful craft. There are only 20 seconds to blow and shape the form before the glass getting hard from removing from the kiln at a temperature of 1150 °C. "The glass that flows like the flowing maltose. It is soft but difficult to master and keeps on changing under the high temperature. So in order to shape the soft and hot glass into the ideal look, it is necessary to achieve a balance with each other, as if the human relationship."
The traces of the bubbles’ flow are the breathing of the glass, and it is also the beautiful manner that the artist dances with.
