Born in Krakow, Poland in 1988, Andrzej Szymczyk graduated with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Sculpture. Also, he studied at The Newcastle University at the department of the Fine Art in 2010-2011. He moved to London in 2012. Since June 2013, he is the member of the Bow Arts Trust. He has exhibited in Poland, Germany and UK.
Andrzej has practiced Judo since he was 7 and has competed at high international levels. The discipline has a significant impact on every aspect of his personality. In terms of his sculpture, he requires himself to be perfect at every stage along the way to completing a finished piece. These highest standards of perfection are what he strives to live by and are what guide him in his art.
In order to manipulate and create something new instead of recreating reality, Andrzej has made the careful study and deep analysis of the anatomy of each object he creates, which allows him to reproduce the finest tensions in musculature and movement and articulate his vision with high precision. The human and animal statues are no longer just a copy of the object, but a small story that blends with the tiny details of his gaze and flows into the viewer's inner feelings.
