Ye, Bo-yu
Born in Changhua in 1987, he graduated from the National Taiwan Normal University, department of Fine Arts, majoring in ink painting. For many years in ink painting, Po-yu saw the multiple manifestations of ink. He changed the order of traditional ink painting, allowing watercolors and inks to meet, collide, and precipitate on rice paper, rendering each other to be rich colors. The background is almost full of pictures, but there are still deliberately left white lines. Under the contemporary art environment, the artist still dares to overcome various challenges. He creates a highly personal artistic image with a humorous attitude.

In Po-yu's works, we can often see a “middle-aged man” with a fading expression, his body moves antic. “Middle-aged men” are at the stage of youth and the elderly, who bear social expectations and responsibilities, and also the pressure of the family and the society. They are forced to become model students in the social system. They hide their stress before the people, however they also need a personal space for relax. Since the artist was a model student at schools, he always pondered the hidden meaning of the ideal type. By means of surreal colors and lines, the artist tries to make people smile and also amuse himself. Life could be interesting!
