Xiao, Ji-zhen
Born in Pingtung, Taiwan in 1988, she graduated with a master's degree in Calligraphy and Painting arts from the National Taiwan University of Arts.

Ji-zhen has been studying ink painting since childhood, and working on the theme of Yushan Sabina for many years. She was touch to Yushan Sabina’s strong vitality in a tough environment, so she expressed her inner feelings and philosophy of life through the artistic vocabulary of “tree shape and line modeling”. Recently, she became interested in ceramics and began her meticulous study of gilt-painted and glaze-burning techniques. She also tried to combine traditional Chinese paintings and craftsmanship to express natural textures and fine brush strokes on porcelain clay. Whether it is ink painting, ceramics or composite media; realistic, semi-concrete or abstract forms of expression, they are all emotional expressions of the life process. “Internalization” has always been the process and ultimate goal of Ji-zhen’s pursuit. She understands and expresess herself better through her creation. “Sometimes the creation is a simple expression of aesthetic consciousness. There is no story; sometimes it is a fantasy, an illusion; sometimes it is released and revealed unconsciously and naturally.”
